Rabbi Aryeh Spero was the guest speaker at Philadelphia ZOA's Fall Quarterly Meeting
Rabbi Spero, who heads Caucus for America and has a new book, Push Back: Reclaiming the American Judeo-Christian Spirit, left us with some powerful ideas during his passionate and fiery talk. One of the keys: Jews need to emphasize our connection to the land of Israel. Often when a Jewish person is asked where his or her family comes from, he or she will name a
country in Europe such as Poland, Russia or Germany. Rabbi Spero noted that these places were largely temporary stopping-off points, and that we should declare that Israel is our homeland and that is where we come from.

The meeting began with a wonderful D'var Torah by Rabbi Eric Yanoff, religious leader of hosts Temple Adath Israel, who also emphasized our connection to the land, an a report by Philly ZOA Co-President Howard Katzoff about his recent emergency trip to Israel with the Conference of Presidents.
